Singing Unto the Lord!

Hello and welcome to my new-fangled blog thing!

As some of you know, I have been recording some hymns mostly from the new “Christ In Song” hymn book.

Click on a title to listen.

Most hymns are scored for four part harmony, which I think is very suitable for Christian singers. It allows all the saints to join together in the best way to worship the Lord in singing (as Paul said in 1 Cor. 14.15)," with the spirit and with the understanding!"

I have tried--"tried" I say--to sing not only the melodies, but all four harmony parts as well. Some are better than others. I'm actually pretty new at this, and it takes a lot more effort than I expected. When I was in the Barbershop Harmony Society, we worked for weeks and months on individual songs to get them up to performance standards. Now I know why!

I think we miss-out by not singing the harmony parts. They are within the range of normal voices--if we only knew how the individual part sounded! If you want to hear a particular part, let me know, and I will cut a "Learning Track" for you!

Singing and making melody (or even a joyful noise) to the Lord is always good, even if alone. But when we come together, and sing together in harmony, everyone is uplifted. As when the priests and musicians in 2 Chronicles 5.12 and following, sang and played their instruments, the Holy Spirit came in and Glory filled the house!

I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed singing! And be encouraged to sing unto the Lord yourself!

I'll post more as I complete them.
